Mariposa Gardens is a vibrant community located in Osoyoos, British Columbia, surrounded by the charm of a beach town and the only living desert in Canada. We are committed to providing a unique and engaging experience for our residents.

Job Summary

We are seeking a Recreation Aide to join our team. As a Recreation Aide, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing programs that promote social interaction, physical activity, and mental stimulation for our residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in the development and revision of departmental procedures and programs under the guidance of the Team Leader.
  • Set up the activity area as necessary and assist in transporting residents to and from programs, if required.
  • Assist in monitoring the residents' interests, needs, and progress.
  • Maintain program and resident records according to departmental policies.
  • Promote social interaction among residents by assuming leadership of assigned activities or special events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • First Aid certification.
  • Diploma or Certificate in recreation/leisure studies or equivalent.
  • Experience in working with seniors, including an understanding of motivation concepts with seniors.
  • Understanding of leisure principles.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Valid driver's license (Class F or provincial equivalent, if required to drive a bus).
  • All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Criminal Records Check (applicable to British Columbia applicants).
