Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Recreation Aide to join our team at Mariposa Gardens Community & Retirement Living. As a Recreation Aide, you will play a critical role in creating a warm and welcoming environment for our residents, promoting social interaction and engagement through various activities and programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement recreational programs and activities that cater to the diverse interests and needs of our residents.
- Assist in the setup and maintenance of activity areas, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for residents.
- Monitor resident interests, needs, and progress, reporting to the Team Leader as necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of program participation and resident feedback.
- Promote social interaction among residents through leadership of assigned activities and special events.
- Assist new residents with orientation to the community and introduce them to other residents, promoting conversation and social interaction.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Team Leader.
Requirements
- Diploma or Certificate in recreation/leisure studies or equivalent.
- Experience working with seniors, including an understanding of motivation concepts with seniors.
- Understanding of leisure principles.
- Computer proficiency.
- Valid driver's license (Class F or provincial equivalent, if required).
- Ability to pass a prescribed Criminal Records Check (applicable to British Columbia applicants).
