Position Summary

BCIT's Student Services department is seeking a temporary, full-time (1.0 FTE) Registered Nurse.

The on campus medical clinic provides primary care to the BCIT student community.

Nurses work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary health team (physicians, counsellors, and psychiatrists) to provide a range of nursing services, including immunization and vaccination services, health promotion, and patient triage.

The nursing team works closely with the School of Health Sciences to prepare students for clinical placements and develops health awareness programs on campus.

Qualifications:

  • Baccalaureate degree in Nursing
  • Current BCCNM practicing license and valid CPR certificate
  • A minimum five years related experience with a preference for experience working with post-secondary student populations
  • Experience with immunizations, TB Skin testing, contact screening, and phlebotomy
  • Clinical experience in primary, public, and mental health care ideal
  • Experience assisting with clinical skills (e.g. assisting with minor surgical procedures, wound care, dressings, STI Testing, etc.)
  • Proven experience in health promotion and education, including the use and development of online resources
  • Strong computer skills and experience using electronic health record systems
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills for collaborative team work
  • Ability to work independently
