About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented and organized individual to join our team as a Pharmacy Support Professional. In this role, you will work under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist to process prescriptions, prepare medication compounding sheets, and program infusion pumps. You will also assist in the final check of prescriptions, receive phone calls, and perform tasks within your scope to ensure seamless operations.
Duties and Responsibilities- Assist pharmacists in maintaining federal, provincial, and local laws, accrediting body standards, and Policies and Procedures (P&Ps).
- Enter prescriptions into the prescription software (Kroll) and fill/bill such prescriptions.
- Schedule patients for repeat medications.
- Prepare compounding sheets for medication preparation.
- Program infusion pumps for medication delivery and prepare other devices.
- Assist pharmacists in preparing and labeling medications as allowed by law.
- Receive and transcribe verbal prescriptions from prescribers, ensuring completeness.
- Package and dispense prescription medications after pharmacist review.
- Check compounded sterile products for particulate matter and container integrity.
- Ensure timely prescription delivery to shipping.
- Fulfill refill medications through the prescription software (Kroll).
- Communicate effectively with healthcare teams.
- Maintain accurate pharmacy records and document required information.
- Clean work areas according to policies and procedures.
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- A Pharmacy Technician Certificate/Diploma from an accredited institution.
- Registration with the College of Pharmacists and good standing.
- Experience in a busy community pharmacy setting or specialty pharmacy setting.
- Basic computer skills and organizational abilities.
