Job Summary:

The Victim Services Worker will provide critical support to victims of domestic violence, child abuse, and other serious crimes. This includes conducting assessments and counseling sessions, guiding victims through the criminal justice system, and connecting them with community resources and services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough assessments and counseling sessions with victims of crime
  • Guide victims through the complexities of the criminal justice system
  • Connect victims with community resources and services, including short-term counseling, risk assessments, and safety planning
  • Work collaboratively with law enforcement, social services, and other stakeholders to ensure victims receive comprehensive support
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners to enhance victim services
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Social Work degree or equivalent related Social Sciences degree
  • Case management experience in the social services field
  • Experience working with effects of trauma, grief, and loss
  • Experience working with victims of domestic violence or child abuse
  • Sound understanding of Indigenous culture and customs, including history and justice-related issues
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a high-volume, high-stress work environment
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience interpreting and applying legislation, policies, and procedures
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office or equivalent software
