Job Title: Associate Physician, Gastroenterology
Job Summary:
Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking an Associate Physician, Gastroenterology to join our team. As an Associate Physician, you will work under the supervision of an attending physician and be accountable for providing high-quality patient care in a team-based environment.
Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and manage common GI emergencies, including unstable patients with GI bleeding, biliary sepsis, liver failure, and severe nutritional decline.
- Perform basic internal medicine procedures, such as IV lines, NG tubes, and paracentesis.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals to provide excellent patient care.
- Work collaboratively with the most responsible physician, fellows, residents, nursing, and allied care providers to care for GI patients.
- Document patient information accurately and in accordance with organizational standards, policies, and guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Medical degree from a school listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools.
- Minimum of two years of accredited postgraduate training as a medical or surgical specialist, verified by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia.
- Successful completion of Part 1 of the Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination (MCCQE) or Steps 1 through 3 of the United States Medical Licensing Examinations (USMLEs).
- Meet the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia's English language proficiency requirements.
- Be eligible for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia in the Associate Physician class.
