BC Children's Hospital (BCCH) is dedicated to providing comprehensive care for the most critically ill or injured children and adolescents. The hospital offers extensive developmental and rehabilitation services across the province and maintains a wide array of specialized health programs. As a premier acute care teaching facility, BCCH is also involved in significant research initiatives aimed at enhancing health outcomes through the BC Children's Hospital Research Institute in collaboration with the University of British Columbia.
BCCH operates under the auspices of the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) , which oversees the planning, management, and evaluation of specialty health services throughout the province. The Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition serves a population of approximately 5 million, providing a comprehensive range of consultative and inpatient services. Currently, the Division comprises eight full-time faculty members and one part-time faculty member, with plans for future expansion. The Division is noted for its research excellence in areas such as host defense, clinical epidemiology, inflammatory bowel disease, and liver disease, and it hosts a Royal College accredited fellowship training program.
The UBC Department of Pediatrics and BCCH are in search of a pediatric gastroenterologist to deliver clinical services, engage in educational activities, and contribute to the Division's research efforts. There is a particular need for candidates with expertise in pediatric hepatology, and experience in pediatric liver transplantation is considered advantageous.
We invite applications from clinicians, clinician-scientists, and clinician-investigators who can thrive in a dynamic clinical and academic setting. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in pediatric gastroenterology, demonstrating excellence in delivering high-quality clinical care and a strong potential for academic research and teaching. Candidates must be eligible for a specialist license to practice medicine in British Columbia and possess sub-specialty training in pediatric gastroenterology, along with Fellowship eligibility in the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
