Employment and Training Counsellor Role

The MMF Métis Youth seeks a highly skilled Employment and Training Counsellor to join our team in Dauphin, Manitoba. As an integral part of our Métis Employment & Training Department, you will play a crucial role in helping individuals achieve their employment goals.

About the Job

We are looking for a motivated and compassionate professional with a strong background in social sciences or a related field. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish strong relationships with clients, partners, and colleagues.

This is a full-time position, offering a competitive salary range of $42,500-$48,000 per annum. You will be responsible for conducting assessments, developing employment plans, providing job search assistance, and maintaining client records.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough assessments to determine client employment needs and eligibility for MET programs;
  • Develop customized employment plans, identifying training and education opportunities that match client goals;
  • Provide ongoing support and guidance throughout the employment process, ensuring clients have access to relevant resources and community connections;
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, adhering to data management protocols;
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to leverage labor market information and job postings;
  • Travel locally to facilitate meetings and training sessions, utilizing a reliable vehicle.
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary education in social sciences or a related field;
  • A minimum of two years' experience in employment or career counselling;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint;
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines;
  • Familiarity with Red River Métis culture and MMF programs is an asset;
  • A valid Manitoba driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
