Early Childhood Educator - Métis Culture Specialist

About the Role

We are seeking a qualified Early Childhood Educator to join our team at the Little Infinity Child Care Centre. As an Early Childhood Educator, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care and education to children aged 0-5 years.

Job Description

The successful candidate will possess a Diploma in Early Childhood Education (ECE) II/III or equivalent and have a minimum of two years’ experience in a similar role. You will have a strong background in delivering programs and services that promote Métis culture and heritage.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining a positive and nurturing learning environment that supports the development of children’s social, emotional, and cognitive skills;
  • Establishing and maintaining safe and healthy learning environments;
  • Developing opportunities for children to become stewards of the local environment;
  • SUPPORTING children’s attempts to resolve problems and differences with others;
  • Encouraging children to express their feelings and assert their rights in socially acceptable ways;
  • Responding to incidents and handling emergencies appropriately if they occur;
  • Maintaining program equipment and assisting in light housekeeping and cooking duties;
  • Attending monthly staff meetings to discuss progress and challenges of children and centre.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you will need to meet the following requirements:

  • ECE II/III Diploma or equivalent;
  • Minimum of two years’ experience as an Early Childhood Educator or relevant role;
  • Experience working with children with additional support needs;
  • Knowledge and ability to implement effective positive guidance techniques using the Circle of Security Approach;
  • Valid First Aid/CPR Certification;
  • Circle of Security Certificate an asset;
  • Clear Vulnerable Sector Check, Criminal Record Check, and Child Abuse Registry Check;
  • Knowledge of Red River Métis culture, heritage, and language an asset;
  • Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle.
Compensation

The salary for this position is approximately $55,000-$65,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
