Position Overview:
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you will be an integral member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, employing nursing processes, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities. Your practice will be guided by your educational background, experience, demonstrated competencies, and the policies and procedures of Alberta Health Services (AHS). You will play a vital role in delivering safe, high-quality care that prioritizes the needs of patients and their families, while embodying the core values and vision of AHS.
Essential Qualifications: - Completion of an accredited practical nursing program.
- Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
We are looking for a self-motivated individual with a positive demeanor, excellent organizational skills, and strong interpersonal and communication abilities, as demonstrated through performance evaluations, work history, and references. As an LPN, you will be part of a collaborative healthcare team on a 36-bed unit specializing in renal medicine, diabetes, and general medicine, working to your full scope of practice. You will utilize critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, guided by your education and experience. Experience in acute care within the last three years is essential, with preference given to candidates who have worked on medical units. Experience in providing care and education to renal and diabetic patients, as well as peritoneal dialysis (PD) experience, is highly valued. Applicants must also be prepared to work at their full scope of practice.
- Current registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) is required.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification is mandatory.
- Graduation from a recognized Practical Nurse program is essential.
