Medical Device Reprocessing Technician

We are seeking a skilled Medical Device Reprocessing Technician to join our team at Royal Columbian Hospital. As a key member of our department, you will be responsible for providing clerical support and performing medical device reprocessing technician duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Provide clerical support by performing duties such as assisting with timekeeping, recording workload statistics, and maintaining records.
- Assist the Supervisor, MDR with timekeeping duties by entering information into Meditech and forwarding to Payroll.
- Participate in the maintenance of procedure manuals by typing, cutting, and pasting, photocopying, and filing new and/or revised procedures.
- Create and maintain computerized inventory of sterile supply instrumentation and track status of loaner instrumentation.
- Maintain stationery and supply levels by monitoring stock, preparing order requisitions, and storing supplies as required.
- Perform medical device reprocessing technician duties as assigned, including cleaning, decontaminating, checking, testing, assembling, sterilizing, and distributing supplies, instruments, and equipment related to the Operating Room and other areas of the Hospital.
- Operate departmental equipment such as automated washers, cart washer, pasteurizer, ultrasonic washer, clean dryer, heat sealer, and sterilizers.
- Participate in routine maintenance of Department's equipment by cleaning, checking, and testing sterilizers, mechanical washers, and other MDR equipment; clean work and storage areas as assigned.
- Pick supplies and instruments for surgical cases.
- Participate in the Department's Quality Assurance Program.
Qualifications
- Grade 12, successful completion of a recognized Sterile Supply Processing program, plus one year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Knowledge of surgical and medical terminology.
- Mathematical aptitude.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal effectively with others.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Ability to type 40 wpm.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
