Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director, Enterprise Privacy to oversee our global privacy framework and lead our privacy capability roadmap. About the Role

This pivotal position will report to the Chief Privacy Officer and be responsible for leading the privacy program, ensuring compliance with global privacy and data protection laws. The successful candidate will develop and own the strategic roadmap for privacy capabilities, aligning with segment goals and regulatory changes.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Direct and continually enhance the enterprise-wide privacy framework and program to ensure compliance with global privacy and data protection laws.
  • Establish, track, and report on privacy performance metrics and KPIs to measure program effectiveness and progress.
  • Develop and own the strategic roadmap for privacy capabilities, aligning with segment goals and regulatory changes.
  • Identify, prioritize, and implement initiatives that build privacy maturity and resilience and drive cross-country efficiency, including product ownership for privacy technologies.
  • Develop and lead data governance oversight for the Canadian segment and share best practices across segments.
  • Act as an expert, coach, and advisor for all privacy risk screening and risk assessment across the Canadian segment.
  • Build, maintain, and empower a community of global privacy champions and practitioners.
  • Facilitate the global privacy leadership forum and other regular communications, training, and engagement activities to promote privacy awareness and privacy culture.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for regional privacy leads, fostering alignment and collaboration across all regions.
  • Lead incident response for global privacy incident matters, in coordination with security and legal teams, ensuring timely response to data breaches.
  • Represent the organization as a privacy and data protection expert in industry forums and collaborate with external partners to advocate for best practices and influence privacy standards.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree in a related field or equivalent experience; CIPP/C, CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CIPPT, or CIMP professional designations are preferred.
  • Experience in data governance and/or knowledge of privacy law supported by a minimum of 5 years' experience in an insurance/financial services industry with inherent compliance-related accountabilities.
  • Knowledge of data security and data protection protocols for safeguarding personal information.
  • Proven ability to understand new technological programs, processes and provide effective guidance related to complex technical projects and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to evaluate policies, processes and systems to identify business risks and control gaps.
  • Demonstrated strength in effectively building relationships and influencing change with a broad range of individuals and groups.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a niche in storytelling.
  • Very good organizational skills with strong attention to detail, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively use Microsoft products (Teams, Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Power BI as an asset).

What We Offer

The base salary for this position is between $89,800 - $166,300 annually. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, as well as a generous retirement savings plan.
