Job Title: Volunteer Coordinator

The Salvation Army is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to fill the role of Volunteer Coordinator. This position will be responsible for coordinating and managing the volunteer program, ensuring that volunteers are engaged and utilized effectively to support the organization's mission.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Recruit, train, and manage a team of volunteers to support various programs and services
  • Develop and implement volunteer engagement strategies to increase volunteer participation and retention
  • Coordinate volunteer scheduling, orientation, and training
  • Provide excellent customer service to volunteers, clients, and internal stakeholders
  • Collaborate with program staff to identify volunteer needs and develop volunteer opportunities
  • Maintain accurate records of volunteer hours, training, and engagement
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for volunteer management
  • Assist with special events and projects as needed
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in a related field an asset
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in volunteer management or a related field
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with volunteers in a non-profit or community organization
  • Knowledge of volunteer management software and systems
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
