Job Overview

The National Capital Commission is seeking a highly skilled Real Estate Asset Manager to join our team and contribute to the success of our Real Estate and Development Branch.

Key Responsibilities

As a Real Estate Asset Manager, you will be responsible for providing subject matter expertise in real estate strategic portfolio asset management and administration of various real estate activities and tasks related to built asset management.

You will manage a variety of analyses, inspections, and reporting focused on real estate strategies in support of the National Capital Commission's Real Estate and Development portfolio.

You will lead internal working teams for the planning, design, and implementation of portfolio objectives related to strategic asset management of buildings.

Additionally, you will lead a multi-disciplinary team to support the delivery of the National Capital Commission's Major project priorities.

Essential Qualifications

Education

A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in real estate asset management, engineering, building science, or an acceptable combination of education, training, and/or experience.

Experience

Five (5) to eight (8) years of experience providing real estate advisory services, including:

  • Providing leadership and oversight in the management of capital planning and asset management strategies;
  • Coordinating and managing inspection programs of built assets;
  • Providing recommendations to senior management regarding prioritization of capital budgets related to built assets.

Knowledge

Of principles and theories associated with asset management, maintenance, and investment analysis in support of sustainable asset management and long-term capital planning.

Of project management principles, methodologies, and best practices.

Abilities

To manage and prioritize various tasks while working on multiple projects simultaneously.

To think strategically, assess complex information and situations, develop recommendations and solutions, and negotiate and implement future courses of action.

To provide project leadership and management activities.

Assets

Industry certifications relating to asset management.

Experience working with Yardi and VTS software.

Functional knowledge of building systems, infrastructure, and real estate industry.

Working Conditions

Primarily working in a controlled office environment with little exposure to unpleasant conditions.

Frequently driving to and walking through properties owned and managed by the National Capital Commission.

Conditions of Employment

Possess or eligible to obtain Secret security clearance.

Linguistic profile: Bilingual BBB.

Possess a valid Ontario unrestricted G class driver's licence (or provincial equivalent).

Position is in the National Capital Region. The person selected for this position must reside within a commutable distance from the workplace at 40 Elgin Street, Ottawa, Ontario.

The National Capital Commission offers a hybrid and flexible work environment, all employees are currently asked to work on-site at least two (2) days per week.
