About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly accomplished individual to assume the role of Vice-Provost and Associate Vice-President, Students at Simon Fraser University.

As a key member of the university's senior leadership team, the successful candidate will provide strategic leadership and management of Student Services, fostering collaboration between departments to deliver exceptional student experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of over 400 professionals in delivering programs and services that span the entire university experience, from recruitment to graduation.
  • Provide strategic direction for Student Services, aligning with the university's vision, mission, and goals.
  • Develop and implement strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure integration and consistency of SFU's activities and plans related to students and student life.
  • Oversee financial, human resource, and information technology plans for the administration of Student Services, ensuring alignment with university practices.
  • Build partnerships between Student Services and faculties, deans, and other units to enhance the student experience.
  • Collaborate with the President of the Simon Fraser Student Society and Graduate Student Society Executive to foster positive relationships.
  • Participate in meetings of the Vice-Presidents, Associate Vice-Presidents/Deans group and serve on University Committees as required.

Requirements and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A doctoral degree (preferred) or significant administrative experience in a well-respected university setting.
  • Proven leadership and administrative experience, with responsibility for delivering student services and managing large complex organizations.
  • An impressive record of creating a vibrant community of belonging where all students can flourish.
  • A depth and breadth of experience in student affairs, services, and accessibility.
  • A demonstrated commitment to Truth and Reconciliation and ensuring appropriate programs, resources, and supports for Indigenous students.
  • A track record of championing and deepening EDI initiatives across the institution.
  • Experience working collaboratively with academic faculties and other support units, understanding the value of strategic enrollment management.
  • An effective builder of engaged teams, able to recruit and manage towards clearly defined goals.

This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned professional to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students at Simon Fraser University. The estimated annual salary range for this position is $220,000 - $280,000 CAD, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
