**Job Title:** Academic Affairs Leadership Position

The Alma Mater Society (AMS) of the University of British Columbia (UBC) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to fill the position of Interim Vice President, Academic & University Affairs. This leadership role plays a critical part in representing the student body and driving academic excellence.

**Estimated Salary:** $44,547.60 per annum

Job Summary:

This position involves leading the Academic & University Affairs portfolio, engaging with various stakeholders, and working closely with the AMS Executive team to achieve strategic goals. As an essential member of our organization, you will have a direct impact on shaping the educational experience for UBC students.

Responsibilities:
  • Lobby the University on issues of interest to students, ensuring their voices are heard.
  • Support constituents in resolving academic and other concerns with faculty or school representatives.
  • Foster collaboration between organizations at the University, including those representing faculty, sessional lecturers, teaching assistants, and non-teaching staff.
  • Serve as the liaison between the Society and the University's Board of Governors and the UBC Vancouver Senate.
  • Lead and manage the VP AUA staff to drive the success of the portfolio.
  • Maintain alignment with the AMS mission statement and values.
  • Perform other duties as outlined in AMS Code and Bylaws, and as assigned by Council or the Executive Committee.
Requirements:
  • Be a currently registered student at UBC Vancouver or one of its affiliated colleges.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of AMS club and constituency operations.
  • Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Show proficiency in organizational management and attention to detail.
  • Be comfortable working in a technical environment.
  • Demonstrate professional conduct and ability to work independently under pressure.
  • Knowledge of AMS fiscal procedures and policies is an asset.
  • Hold advanced computer and technological skills.
