Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Mitigation and Adaptation Forester. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong background in forestry, natural resource management, and environmental sustainability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies related to boreal forest management and renewal practices.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate climate change policies and programs related to boreal forests and peatlands.
  • Conduct research and analysis to inform policy and program development, and provide recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Indigenous peoples and communities to develop and implement culturally sensitive and effective climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, industry partners, and community groups.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to colleagues and stakeholders on climate change mitigation and adaptation issues.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary degree in forestry, natural resource management, environmental management, or biological sciences.
  • Experience developing and implementing climate change mitigation and adaptation activities related to boreal forest management and renewal practices.
  • Experience developing, implementing, and evaluating climate change policies and programs related to boreal forests and peatlands.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing and presentation.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills, including the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
Working Conditions

This is a challenging and dynamic role that requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines. The successful candidate will be required to travel to remote locations throughout the province of Manitoba, and may be required to work overtime and extended periods away from home.
