About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Group Manager to lead our North Ecology team, part of the Ecology and Environmental Impact Assessment (EcoEIA) business in BC and Yukon. As a key member of our team, you will provide leadership and technical expertise to support a variety of projects, ranging in type, size, and complexity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of 15+ ecologists and biologists, providing guidance and mentorship to ensure project success.
  • Develop and implement project plans, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery.
  • Collaborate with project managers to review cost estimates and client deliverables.
  • Support employee career development and performance, including team mentorship.
  • Participate in human resources activities, including annual performance and salary reviews, hiring, and recruitment processes.
  • Monitor financial results and implement changes to achieve desired financial outcomes.
  • Communicate company policies and mandates to the Ecology team and oversee their application.
  • Foster collaboration across the EcoEIA team and other WSP Business Lines.
Requirements
  • University degree in environmental or natural sciences, environmental engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a consulting environment with a focus on ecological project delivery.
  • Professional registration (R.P.Bio, P. Biol., P.Ag, RPP, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse teams and multiple priorities.
  • Strong business acumen and financial management experience.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated success in team management and leadership, with a focus on fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong demonstration of health and safety leadership.
