Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our team at PHSA. As an Oncology Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing comprehensive care to patients with cancer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care to oncology patients, including assessment, intervention, symptom management, and treatment coordination.
  • Collaborate with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Administer medications, injections, and IV fluids as required by the care plan, and monitor patient reactions to treatment.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including health history, nursing assessments, and care evaluations.
  • Admit, transfer, or discharge patients according to PHSA policies and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless care coordination.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as an RN with the British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Current CPR (Level C) certification.
  • One (1) year of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Demonstrate relevant clinical knowledge and apply clinical knowledge in practice.
  • Utilize clinical and information technology to enhance patient care in accordance with agency policies.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Organize patient care and set priorities.
  • Physically perform duties of the position.
  • Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Site Report (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), and other related reports.
