We are seeking a highly skilled Pastry Chef to join our culinary team at The Wickaninnish Inn. As a Pastry Chef, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Pastry Department, including menu planning, production, and presentation of items for our restaurants and special events.
Key Responsibilities:- Ensure efficient and personalized guest service meeting and exceeding Relais & Chateaux and AAA 4 & 5 Diamond Standards.
- Participate in and oversee menu planning, production, and presentation of items for our restaurants and special events.
- Ensure food meets quality standards.
- Consult with guests regarding special events or other special menu requests.
- Support the savory kitchen with mise en place that involves baking and pastry techniques.
- Supervise team members, including scheduling, training, mentoring, and performance evaluation.
- Participate in human resources functions within the Pastry Department, including recruitment.
- Be the liaison between the restaurant leadership team and the Pastry Team.
- Order and inventory related to the Pastry Department.
- Knowledge of Relais & Chateaux and AAA 4 Diamond standards.
- Passion for baking and pastry arts.
- Team player with proven leadership abilities.
- Calm demeanor with a sense of urgency as required.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on quality.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Superb time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work AM shifts.
- Must be creative and innovative, yet able to adjust style to suit guest's specific needs and requests.
- Familiarity with current culinary and F&B trends, innovations, and techniques.
- Well-rounded skill set with proficiency in the production and decoration of cakes, pastries, desserts, and breads.
- Completion of secondary school required.
- Minimum 3 years in a similar position or level in a fine dining establishment or similar experience.
- Cook's trade certification or equivalent credentials, training, and experience required.
- Valid Food Safe Certification.
Salary/Wage: $75,000 annually.
