Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Hospitality Support Worker to join our team at Saskatchewan Polytechnic. In this role, you will provide exceptional customer service and support to our hospitality and tourism training programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service and cashier duties, utilizing various systems to process accurate and efficient customer transactions and complete end-of-day procedures.
  • Assist in food preparation for hot and cold items, ensuring Food Safe conditions are met or exceeded at all times.
  • Communicate effectively with programming regarding preparation of cold kitchen items to support a seamless experience for customers.
  • Work in various service styles, including banquet, quick, counter, or table service, and assist with bartending duties as needed.
  • Follow guidelines during service, ensuring understanding and adoption of all portion control guidelines.
  • Label items for sale and update daily menu information and pricing to ensure accuracy.
  • Fill and stock as necessary, and organize till floats and prepare change orders.
  • Address customer inquiries and provide excellent communication at all times.
  • Assist with receiving and dispersing food and supply orders, and participate in banquet set-ups, service, and tear-downs.
  • Complete dishwashing and cleaning tasks as required, and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Participate as a team member, accepting personal accountability and holding others accountable.
  • Facilitate various promotional activities and events.

Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities

  • High school diploma or equivalent (about 12 years of formal education).
  • 2 years' experience working in a food service setting.
  • Food Safe Level 1 Certification.
  • Excellent customer service skills and effective, appropriate, and professional communication.
  • Able to address minor workplace issues that arise in day-to-day operations.
  • Knowledge of basic service standards and ability to multitask in all types of service.
  • Basic understanding of point-of-sale operation and Moneris devices.
  • Able to operate commercial kitchen equipment.
  • Knowledge of safe handling of chemicals used in food service settings.
  • Bondable.
  • Computer skills, including knowledge of software prevalent in food services (labelling, online ordering, online scheduling, time sheets).

  • Basic product knowledge about menu item ingredients.
