Your Role:
As a responsible leader in, and champion of, the Canadian audiovisual industry, the Strategic Legal Leader for Telefilm Canada is responsible for managing the organization's Legal Services and Legal Affairs. This role involves providing advice and strategies to help the organization achieve its objectives while respecting laws and regulations in place.

The incumbent ensures that all of the Company's activities comply with laws and regulations pertaining to its activities, the audiovisual industry, the media, and intellectual property. They also ensure that the Company remains compliant with access to information legislation. The Strategic Legal Leader acts as Corporate Secretary to the Company's Board of Directors.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage the organization's Legal Services and Legal Affairs.
  • Provide advice and strategies to help the organization achieve its objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with laws and regulations pertaining to the company's activities.
  • Act as Corporate Secretary to the Company's Board of Directors.

Requirements:
The ideal candidate has a high level of integrity and commitment, recognized for consultative leadership, strong interpersonal skills, and ability to match risk management with business strategy. In addition to knowledge of the audiovisual industry, the person will bring a collaborative management style focused on action and recognizing the value of their team members' contributions.

Bilingual, with strong interpersonal and communication skills, the successful candidate seeks continuous progress, takes calculated risks, and constructively challenges the status quo. The incumbent is a member of the bar and has at least 10 years' relevant experience.

Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 per annum (dependent on qualifications and experience).
