Job Title: Part-time Library Assistant

Algonquin College is seeking a part-time Library Assistant to join our team. As a Library Assistant, you will provide support to learners at the AC Libraries, assist with the maintenance of physical library materials, and perform various tasks as required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform shelving, shelf-reading, and general upkeep of the physical collection.
  • Support staff with opening mail, loose-leaf filing for legal collection, and creating/updating physical marketing materials.
  • Assist clients with directional queries and redirect complex questions to technicians or librarians as applicable.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Current Algonquin College student registered for the Fall 2024 semester.
  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma.
  • One year of experience in a library setting is considered an asset.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and complete projects with minimal direction.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient communication skills (oral and written).
  • A proven ability to exercise a high level of confidentiality, discretion, diplomacy, and sound judgment pertaining to access to private and secure information.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
