Overview:

CB Canada, a renowned Tech company based in Calgary, is seeking an exceptional Financial Manager to oversee its accounting functions and drive strategic growth. The ideal candidate will possess excellent leadership skills, a strong financial background, and experience in managing high-performing teams.

Salary: Estimated annual salary: CAD $120,000 - CAD $180,000 depending on qualifications and experience.

Job Description:

The Financial Manager will be responsible for overseeing the general accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes. Key duties include:

  • Managing and reviewing financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Assessing current practices and procedures, making recommendations for improvements
  • Developing staff (4-5 direct reports) by managing performance, setting goals, providing ongoing training, and maintaining strong employee relationships
  • Preparing, reviewing, and analyzing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Reviewing month-end journal entries and reconciliations, financial reporting to shareholders, and preparing monthly reporting for stakeholders
  • Overseeing day-to-day accounting activities, including treasury functions, review of invoice and payment batches
  • Leading the interim and year-end financial audit activities
  • Assisting with external consolidated annual financial statements
  • Working with external auditors to ensure correct and timely closing and reporting at year-end

Requirements:

To succeed in this role, the candidate must have:

  • A CPA designation required; public accounting firm experience preferred
  • At least 5 years post-designation experience
  • Previous management experience required
  • Proficiency in Excel, SQL, Power BI, and experience with other business intelligence tools considered an asset
  • A dynamic hands-on attitude, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work well across departments
  • Strong attention to detail
