Job Overview

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Instrumental Analysis Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the efficient operation of the Instrumental Analysis department. This includes personnel, equipment, and space management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a safe working environment by enforcing Health, Safety, and Environment regulations and reporting any incidents or concerns.
  • Supervise staff and optimize work schedules to meet performance and production demands.
  • Conduct audits of systems, processes, and safety protocols.
  • Identify performance strengths and weaknesses and implement solutions to enhance operational performance.
  • Conduct staff performance evaluations and make recommendations for advancement.
  • Collaborate with the Operations Manager to develop the annual budget and identify opportunities to enhance operational performance.
  • Investigate and resolve non-conformances and create Standard Operating Procedures as required.
  • Assist in hiring new employees and administer HR and HSE policies within the department.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships throughout the company.
  • Ensure SGS-AXYS quality standards are maintained to strengthen market reputation.

Qualifications:

  • Education: BSc. in Chemistry or related science.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of laboratory experience and 2 years of supervisory experience.

Required Skills:

  • Strong computer skills (Excel, MS Word, Outlook).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to plan and execute departmental plans.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and energetic.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow work instructions in a safe and accurate manner.
  • Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
