Home Support Worker

The Home Support Worker provides expert care and assistance to clients in their homes, ensuring their safety and well-being. As a valued member of the Simcoe County team, you will demonstrate a commitment to quality services and client-centered care.
Key Responsibilities- Provide personal care to clients, including bathing, dressing, and grooming, in accordance with established standards and nursing principles.
- Participate in the activation process to promote the physical, social, and emotional well-being of each client.
- Observe and report significant changes in client condition, documenting in the Personal Care Coordinator (PCC) system.
- Assist clients with activities of daily living, including laundry, housekeeping, and meal preparation.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with clients, families, and colleagues.
- Contribute to the development and revision of policies and procedures related to quality risk management.
- Utilize electronic systems effectively and maintain a safe environment.
- Take responsibility for own ethical behavior and participate in the orientation of new staff members.
- Input into client care plans and assessments, and complete documentation as required.
- Respond to client emergencies and follow safe work practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned, in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and the Long Term Care Homes Act.
- Completion of the Personal Support Worker Certification program or currently enrolled.
- Ability to work with others in an inter-professional care team.
- Good physical condition to meet the demands of the position.
- Effectiveness working with minimal supervision, with proven reliability and trustworthiness.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Good leadership and organizational skills.
- First Aid certificate an asset.
- Proof of annual CPR recertification.
- Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
- As a condition of employment, candidates must submit documented results of TB testing.
May be exposed to illnesses/viruses while working with clients.
Salary Grade Union OPSEU 394
