Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Governance Lead to join our team at Royal Bank of Canada. As a key member of our Data Strategy Team, you will play a critical role in setting the vision and strategic direction for data governance initiatives across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Foster a collaborative environment where various departments work together towards common data governance goals.
  • Analyze complex problems, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions to address data governance challenges.
  • Develop and implement data governance strategies that align with the organization's long-term goals.
  • Articulate complex data governance concepts in a way that is easily understood by various stakeholders, including technical teams and business users.
  • Manage multiple data governance projects simultaneously, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or Finance or other quantitative discipline.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a similar role, with a strong background in data governance and technical leadership.
  • Advanced programming skills in Python, with experience in data manipulation, automation, and analytics.
  • Shell Scripting skills for automating administrative tasks and data processes.
  • Deep understanding of relational and non-relational databases, with advanced SQL proficiency.
  • Prior experience with data lineage and governance platforms, such as Apache Atlas, Informatica, Collibra, Talend, Alation, and other tools.
  • Expertise in ETL tools, such as Informatica, Talend, Microsoft SSIS, and Apache NiFi.
  • Data integration design skills to ensure seamless data flow across systems.
  • Hadoop/Spark expertise for big data technologies.
  • Experience with metadata repositories and implementing metadata standards.
