Estimator Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Estimator to join our team at Summa Architectural & Structural Metal Inc. as a key member of our estimating department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare detailed estimates of labour and material costs for construction projects
  • Operate computer-aided design (CADD) and other software systems to create accurate estimates
  • Develop estimates for general expenses and overheads, and provide economic feasibility studies for proposed projects
  • Prepare and submit estimate reports, quote sheets, and bid forms to clients and stakeholders
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure accurate cost estimates and project timelines
  • Monitor and adjust contract expenditures to ensure project profitability
  • Develop and maintain a directory of suppliers and trade contractors
Requirements:
  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in estimating for construction projects
  • Experience in architecture, commercial and industrial construction, institutional construction, and structural engineering
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings, and specifications
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in CADD and other computer software systems
