Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Estimator to join our team at Summa. As an Estimator, you will play a critical role in evaluating the cost of materials and labor, preparing cost estimates, and conducting business cases for proposed projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate the cost of materials and labor to prepare accurate cost estimates
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including general and second-tier estimates
  • Estimate general expenses and conduct business cases for proposed projects
  • Read and interpret plans, maps, drawings, and specifications to ensure accuracy
  • Use computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) and other software systems to support estimating efforts
  • Evaluate costs prior to contract award and follow quantity takeoff procedures
  • Implement monitoring and reporting processes to ensure project efficiency
  • Prepare and maintain directories of suppliers and specialty trade contractors
  • Communicate and liaise with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure seamless project execution

Requirements

  • Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Relevant experience in miscellaneous metal or structural steel drawings
