About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Estimator to join our team at Summa Architectural & Structural Metal Inc. as a Trade Contractor Estimator. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing estimates of labour and/or material costs, operating CADD and other computer software systems, and providing economic feasibility studies and preliminary estimates for proposed projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Estimating: Prepare detailed estimates of labour and/or material costs for construction projects.
  • Quantity Surveying: Conduct quantity take-off procedures and advise on tendering procedures.
  • Cost Monitoring: Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems, and monitor and adjust contract expenditures.
  • Communication: Liaise, consult, and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
  • Documentation: Prepare and maintain directory of supplies and trade contractors, and create and submit estimate reports, quote sheets, and bids forms.
Requirements
  • Education: College/CEGEP degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in estimating or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Skills: Proficiency in CADD and other computer software systems, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Work Environment

This is a full-time position with a 35 to 40 hour workweek. The ideal candidate will be bilingual and have a strong understanding of construction estimating principles and practices.
