Family Law Legal Assistant

This long-term career opportunity is ideal for a graduate of an accredited LAA program who wants to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, providing legal administrative support to senior staff and lawyers.
About the RoleThis role involves various legal administrative tasks requiring sound judgment, excellent interpersonal skills, and strong organizational abilities.
You will be responsible for:
- General administrative duties including data entry, document management, and calendar organization.
- Collecting and organizing financial documents for financial statements and preparing lists of documents.
- Experience using DivorceMate for spousal and child support calculations.
- Preparing and drafting pleadings and affidavits, as well as knowledge of relevant legislation.
- Drafting, reviewing, and preparing routine correspondence, legal documents, court pleadings, and reporting letters.
- Conducting BC Online & Land Title searches and filing pleadings via BC Online.
- Preparation of invoices, scanning, and delivery.
- Maintenance of established systems within the firm, such as calendars, client files, and business information systems.
- Assisting with scheduling appointments and other dates for/with clients, lawyers, and court.
We are seeking an individual with:
- A graduate degree from a Paralegal and/or LAA program.
- At least 3 years of experience working as a legal assistant or paralegal in Family Law.
- Strong attention to detail, oral and written communication skills, including proofreading, grammar, and editing skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact confidently with paralegals, lawyers, and clients.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- The ability to work independently and within a team.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Family Law Act, Provincial Court & Supreme Court Rules.
The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $80,000 per annum, commensurate with experience. The successful candidate will also receive a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, as well as paid time off and professional development opportunities.
