Job Summary

The Bilingual Deputy Registrar position at Manitoba Justice, Court Operations involves significant in-person interaction with clients and stakeholders. The successful candidate will provide administrative support and assistance related to court regulations and procedures, as well as complete court documents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and process documents for prompt filing in accordance with Court of King's Bench Rules and federal and provincial statutes.
  • Issue court pleadings and process documents filed in all divisions of the Court of King's Bench.
  • Enter information on the Court Registry System according to a standards manual.
  • Provide information to the public and legal profession in person, over the phone, and in writing.
  • Ensure quality control of legal documents flowing through the court.
Requirements
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Must provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check.
  • Must provide a satisfactory Enhanced Security Check.
  • Ability to work overtime when required with little notice.
Qualifications
  • Extensive experience performing administrative duties in a court, legal, or related environment.
  • Experience providing in-person service to the public, judiciary, legal profession, law enforcement agencies, or other justice partners.
  • Ability to maintain accuracy and pay attention to detail.
  • Experience interpreting and applying policies, procedures, acts, statutes, and regulations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including diplomacy and tact.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and contribute to a respectful workplace.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure to meet workload demands.
  • Ability to work effectively under minimal supervision and make independent decisions using sound judgment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, and Excel) or an equivalent software.
  • Excellent English verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate legal principles in plain language.
  • Excellent English written communication skills, including proficiency in spelling, grammar, punctuation, and syntax.
