Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Library Assistant to join our Public Service team at the University of Saskatchewan. As a key member of our team, you will provide exceptional client-focused library services to our community and external users.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide operational support duties associated with the Public Service group, including circulation services, course reserves, serials and collections maintenance, and cash handling.
  • Provide work-related guidance, support, and direction to student library assistants.
  • Complete all aspects of circulation of library materials, including checkout, check-in, holds, shelving, and processing library materials.
  • Provide excellent customer assistance and support at the Library Services desk, responding to general inquiries in-person and by telephone.
  • Address client issues and disputes using established methods and practices, referring complex situations to the supervisor as necessary.
  • Assist in the general upkeep, monitoring, and maintenance of library spaces, reporting problems to Facilities as necessary.
  • Complete opening and/or closing duties.
  • Undertake project work and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Completion of a relevant post-secondary program plus a minimum of one year's experience working in a library.
  • Relevant library and public services experience.
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively and independently.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications in a networked environment.
  • Experience with Sierra library management system is an asset.

Working Conditions

This is a term position for 2 years with the possibility of extension. The successful candidate will work Tuesday to Saturday, September to May 1:00-9:00 pm, and May to August 10:00-6:00, with an EDO every third week.

The salary range is $ per hour, with the starting salary commensurate with education and experience.
