Job Summary:

The University of Saskatchewan is seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused Library Assistant, Access Services to join our team. As a key member of our Access Services group, you will provide exceptional client service, support library operations, and contribute to the development of welcoming and responsive services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide operational support for circulation services, course reserves, serials and collections maintenance, and cash handling.
  • Supervise and guide student library assistants, ensuring they receive the necessary training and support.
  • Manage the circulation of library materials, including checkout, check-in, holds, shelving, and processing.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service at the Library Services desk, responding to inquiries, providing information, and resolving issues.
  • Address client concerns and disputes using established methods and practices.
  • Assist in maintaining library spaces, reporting issues to Facilities as needed.
  • Perform opening and closing duties, and undertake project work as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Completion of a relevant post-secondary program and a minimum of one year's experience working in a library.
  • Relevant library and public services experience, with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and independently.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications in a networked environment, with Sierra library management system experience an asset.

  • Ability to work independently, use initiative, and effectively handle disruptions.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a focus on customer service.
  • Flexibility to adapt to change and engage with others in the change process.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a reliable, dependable work ethic.

Working Environment:

This role is part of the University of Saskatchewan's Access Services team, working in a dynamic service-oriented environment with competing tasks and priorities. The successful candidate will be able to work effectively in a team environment, with a focus on delivering exceptional customer service and supporting the University Library's Strategic Framework.
