Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Solutions Designer to join our Life Sciences division at ATS Automation. As a key member of our team, you will design and develop world-class automation solutions for our clients.

Responsibilities

The primary role and responsibilities of this position will be focused on developing and commissioning synchronous cammed automation equipment based on a B&R control platform with some Allen Bradley wrappers.

You will be responsible for:

  • Designing and developing software programs (PLC and/or PC based) specific to customer and project requirements based on standard ATS programming methods.
  • Debugging and commissioning control systems at our facility, during the system integration stage and then at the customer's site during installation.
  • Selecting, testing, and integrating hardware and software components such as robots, analog devices, motion controllers, sensors, vision systems, and lasers.
  • Working with other members of the control systems design department and other groups to continuously improve methods of integrating controls technology, with the goals being enhanced safety, enhanced functionality, and reduced cost.
  • Collaborating with customers, project managers, designers, toolmakers, and electricians to solve problems in order to provide the customer with a complete, functional automation system.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A post-secondary engineering degree, diploma, or equivalent, specializing in mechanical, electrical, systems, or computer engineering.
  • Strong programming, mechanical, and electrical problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Understanding of robotics, control systems, and machine operation with hands-on experience is desirable.
  • A self-starter with the ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

Two+ years of experience programming in B&R Automation Studio is strongly recommended. Previous B&R Motion Simulation experience would also be an asset providing candidates with an excellent opportunity to work on one of the markets biggest automation disruptors in the last decade.

Compensation

The salary for this role is estimated to be around $100,000-$120,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including subsidized breakfast and lunch daily, free gourmet beverages, monthly 'in-chair massage' clinic, and much more.
