Deafblind Community Support Specialist

About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled Specialist Intervenor to provide support services to individuals who are Deafblind. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Deafblindness and the ability to act as a communicator and sighted guide.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one support to individuals who are Deafblind, facilitating access to information and communication.
- Work collaboratively with individuals to determine their level of support and empower them to actively participate in their community.
- Offer sighted guide and environmental information to enable individuals to navigate their surroundings.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of Deafblindness, Deaf/Deafblind culture, and associated health-related concerns.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Diploma or degree in a human services field or related experience.
- Experience working with individuals who are Deafblind or a willingness to learn and practice related alternate formats of communication.
