Job Title: Deafblind Community Specialist

CNIB Deafblind Community Services is seeking a skilled Deafblind Community Specialist to join our team. As a Specialist, Intervenor, you will play a vital role in facilitating the interaction between individuals who are Deafblind and their environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one support and guidance to individuals who are Deafblind in their homes or communities.
  • Facilitate access to information and facilitate communication between individuals and their environment.
  • Work collaboratively with individuals to determine their level of support and empower them to actively participate in their communities.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of Deafblindness, Deaf/Deafblind culture, and common associated health-related concerns.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Experience working with individuals who are Deafblind or a willingness to learn and practice related alternate formats of communication.
