About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Youth Mental Health Specialist to join our multidisciplinary team at Vancouver Coastal Health. As a key member of our team, you will work with youth experiencing mental health and/or substance use concerns.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and provide direct clinical services, including immediate assertive outreach assessment/intervention/referral and support.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to identify and resolve client care issues, and coordinate and integrate care.
  • Develop and deliver evidence-based treatment interventions, promoting recovery in mental illness.
  • Participate in clinical/case conferences, team meetings, continuing education, and conferences.
Requirements
  • A Master's degree in a related Health Science discipline.
  • Three years' experience working with marginalized and street-involved youth.
  • A valid BC Driver's License.
  • Eligibility for registration with the appropriate professional body or association.
Competencies
  • Knowledge of recovery in mental illness, diagnosis, and treatment of behavioral, social, emotional, and mental health/psychiatric problems in youth.
  • Ability to work with youth with behavioral, social, emotional, and mental health/psychiatric issues, performing psychosocial assessments and providing treatment planning and care.
  • Effective communication skills to engage with youth and their families.
  • Capacity to work independently and collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
