Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a highly skilled Child and Youth Mental Health Clinician to join their team. This role will involve providing mental health services to Indigenous children and youth, working closely with families and communities to support their well-being.

About the Position

This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary team environment, conducting mental health assessments, providing treatment services, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals. As a Child and Youth Mental Health Clinician, you will have the chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Indigenous children and youth.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct mental health assessments with Indigenous identified child and youth, including those who may experience marginalization, challenges, and barriers to engagement.
  • Provide treatment services that are sensitive to Indigenous cultures, including direct clinical services, assertive outreach, assessment, intervention, referral, and support.
  • Establish and maintain relationships based on respect and understanding, participating in case conferences and meetings, and providing support to colleagues and consultative services to children and youth service providers.
  • Implement the Indigenous Cultural Safety policy to provide culturally safe and responsive mental health and wellness supports to Indigenous children, youth, and families.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Social Work, Clinical Counseling, or Psychology.
  • Three years recent, related experience working with Indigenous children/youth and their families who may experience challenges and barriers to accessing mental health supports.
  • Eligibility for registration with the appropriate professional body or association, as applicable.
  • Valid BC Driver's License for local area travel.
Preferred Qualifications
  • First Nations, Inuit, Metis ancestry directly relevant to the skills and knowledge for excellence in this position.

Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary range for this position is CAD $52.81/Hr - CAD $63.55/Hr, depending on experience. Comprehensive health benefits, pension plan, and employer-paid training opportunities are also offered.
