Job Title: Education Assistant II

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Education Assistant II to join our team at Parkland School Division. As an Education Assistant II, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational needs of our students, particularly those with special needs.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will provide literacy intervention supports to K-9 students, work under the guidance of the Principal and literacy lead teacher, and assist classrooms and provide supervision. This is a permanent part-time position, working 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 2:30 PM.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide literacy intervention supports to K-9 students
  • Work under the guidance of the Principal and literacy lead teacher
  • Assist classrooms and provide supervision
  • Support students with special needs, including those with physical disabilities
  • Assist with the implementation of Individual Program Plans (IPPs) and adaptive devices
  • Provide support to students with communication needs, including American Sign Language and assistive technology devices
  • Apply foundational knowledge about First Nations, Métis, and Inuit cultures to support student learning
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma
  • Teacher Assistant Certificate or Educational Assistant Certificate (an asset)
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention and First Aid Certificate (an asset)
  • Courses related to working with students with special needs or specifically related to the above-mentioned duties
  • 1-3 years of related experience
Working Conditions:

Educational Assistants work indoors, except when supervising children outdoors or going on field trips. This position may require the use of a personal vehicle.
