Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Assistant II to join our team at Northern Health Authority. As a key member of our laboratory department, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our laboratory services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform specimen collection, preparation, and testing under the supervision of the Chief Technologist or designate.
  • Conduct inpatient and/or outpatient Electrocardiogram (ECG) testing, and/or Holter monitor testing as required, and explain test procedures to patients.
  • Perform routine equipment cleaning and maintenance to ensure optimal laboratory function.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff to ensure seamless laboratory operations and high-quality patient care.
Requirements
  • Grade 12, successful completion of a recognized Lab Assistant training program, and one (1) year's recent, related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively and maintain a positive working relationship.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to operate related equipment and maintain accurate records.
