Environmental Health and Safety Advisor

About the Role
The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Advisor will play a crucial role in supporting AIM's Recycling facility located in Moncton, New Brunswick, as well as other sites in the Atlantic Region. Reporting to the EHS Manager, this position will be responsible for advising and assisting in the planning, organizing, monitoring, and review of daily site activities, incidents, Safe Return to Work, and Occupational Disease prevention.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain an EHS culture with all managers and employees.
- Advise and support managers on strategic EHS initiatives, programs, procedures, and tools.
- Assist and train supervisors in performing inspections of workplaces and work practices to ensure safety rules and regulatory requirements are respected.
- Perform occupational risk analysis and propose preventive measures.
- Conduct investigations and analyze work-related accidents with supervisors and managers.
- Support and audit the adequacy and effectiveness of preventive measures.
- Participate and collaborate with regulatory and third-party inspections or investigations.
- Respond to employees' and internal/external customers' occupational health and safety information requests.
- Plan and perform internal training sessions and monitor completion of mandatory EHS trainings.
- Track and report on various EHS metrics and key indicators.
- Conduct and assist with orientation sessions for new hires and participate in on-boarding activities as required.
- Support the rollout of corporate/EHS programs, policies, and other initiatives.
- Council and support Joint Health and Safety Committee.
Requirements:
- A minimum of a college-related EHS diploma, university certifications, or equivalent related experience.
- Five years of experience in an EHS position.
- Strong knowledge of applicable Acts and Regulations.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent planning, organization, and adaptation skills.
- Impeccable attention to detail.
- Technical skills acquired in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Rigor, ability to multitask, and initiative.
- Strong MS Office proficiency.
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and high-pressure situations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Maintain discretion, confidentiality, and diplomacy.
- Hold a valid driver's license.
