About the Role:

First Student Shared Services is seeking a skilled Transportation Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of students to and from school.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive a school bus in a safe and courteous manner, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the bus interior and exterior.
  • Perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the bus is in good working condition.
  • Assist passengers with disabilities and ensure their safe boarding and exiting of the bus.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch and other team members to ensure smooth operations.
  • Complete and submit accurate reports regarding incidents and accidents.

Requirements:

  • A valid Class 2 Driver's License with air brake endorsement.
  • The ability to obtain Operator's License with required endorsements.
  • A clean driving record with no contraventions.
  • A willingness to work a variety of shifts, including early, split, and late shifts.
  • A good general knowledge of the demographics of the service area.
  • The ability to pass a vulnerable sector records check and drug and alcohol testing.

  • Be able to work in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Be able to lift and move heavy objects, as needed.
