We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Houseperson to join our Housekeeping Team at Shangri-La Vancouver. As a Houseperson, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest level of cleanliness and comfort for our guests. Key Responsibilities
  • Communicate effectively with internal colleagues to ensure prompt and proactive service to guests.
  • Clean and maintain public restrooms, public areas, back-of-house, and other assigned work areas to hotel housekeeping standards.
  • Assist in the receiving of Housekeeping stock and prepare and maintain Housekeeping storage areas to Shangri-La standards of cleanliness and safety.
  • Provide waste removal and janitorial duties specific to special cleaning projects, as assigned.
  • Remove trash collected by room attendants from service areas.
  • Deliver towels, toiletries, cribs, roll-away beds, and other requested items to guest rooms.
  • Pickup clean linens and refill the par stock of linen on each floor pantry, as required.
  • Clean rugs, carpets, and upholstered furniture using a vacuum cleaner, broom, and shampoo machine.
  • Assist in the cleaning of guest rooms, including changing of sheets and removal of garbage.
  • Sanitize high-touch point areas of the hotel, including public areas, spa, health club, and back of house, as required.
  • Collect soiled linen for laundering, assisting in the hotel laundry, as required.
  • Assist other Housekeeping Colleagues with the preparation of guest rooms, as assigned.
  • Assist room attendants with moving heavy furniture items, as required.
  • Complete deep cleaning tasks, as assigned, such as sweeping, mopping floors, and washing windows.
  • Clean all public areas as required, following department standard operating procedures.
  • Report missing/found articles, damage, or merchandise problems to the Housekeeping supervisors.
  • Report all defects and damage to Housekeeping Management to ensure it is logged and actioned.
  • Undertake other ad-hoc related responsibilities, as required.
Requirements

  • Functional Competence: Safely work with cleaning chemicals, lift up to 50 lbs, stand, reach, grip, and exert steady-paced mobility, able to push and pull carts or equipment weighing up to 250 lbs regularly throughout an 8-hour shift.
  • Operational Knowledge: Learn and follow Shangri-La deliverables, SLV, and Housekeeping service standards, programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Self-Motivation: Able to follow through on direction, with minimal supervision.
  • Communication: Able to comprehend, read, write, and speak English, including workplace policies, job instruction, departmental, and safety information.
  • Problem-Solving: Able to prioritize, multi-task, help others; calmly, respectfully, creatively, and successfully resolve problems, as required.
  • Emotional Maturity: Interacts with others in a respectful manner, with demonstrated qualities of sincerity, helpfulness, courtesy, and humility.
  • Ethical and Professional Conduct: Fulfills responsibilities with the highest integrity.
  • Technology Proficiency: Fully competent in all systems used within the department.
Compensation

The hourly wage for this role is $29.22/hour.
