The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality afterschool programs for school-age youth, promoting physical literacy, cooperative play, and confidence building.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Program Planning: Develop and implement engaging and interactive afterschool programs that meet the needs of school-age youth, ensuring quality standards and child protection requirements are met.
  • Program Delivery: Deliver hands-on program activities that promote physical literacy, cooperative play, and confidence building, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all participants.
  • Foster positive relationships with parents and caregivers, ensuring individual needs are met and providing timely support and resolution to concerns.
  • Program Administration: Complete program documentation and administrative tasks, ensuring efficient program delivery and compliance with YMCA and provincial regulations.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent, with a strong reference.
  • 0-2 years of childcare experience, with demonstrable evidence of experience linked to the role's responsibilities.
  • Experience working with children, with a focus on physical literacy and cooperative play.
  • Post-secondary education in Early Childhood Education or a related field is considered an asset.
  • Valid Nova Scotia driver's license or access to reliable transportation.
