Job Summary

Fraser Health is seeking a highly experienced and skilled professional to lead our Nursing Practice and Quality initiatives. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to enhance nursing practice environments and improve quality care delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the strategic planning, design, implementation, promotion, evaluation, and maintenance of nursing practice initiatives, including scope of practice and regulations, clinical informatics, patient safety priorities, acute care nursing orientation, resource planning, and research.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to clinical teams to enhance their understanding of professional nursing standards, scope of practice, quality of practice initiatives, new technology integration, and innovative practice approaches.
  • Develop and implement strategies and procedures to support nursing practice initiatives and ensure that planned practices are designed to support the maintenance or enhancement of clinical care delivery.
  • Develop and recommend nursing models of care that support best practices, nursing regulations, improved patient/client access, and efficient flow of patients/clients across the continuum of care.
  • Plan, lead, and evaluate the Acute Care Orientation Program across Fraser Health.
  • Lead and supervise the General Clinical Nurse Educator team and their work related to nursing practice and the Acute Care Orientation Program.
  • Promote consistent care to our patients/clients/residents/families across sites, programs, and professions by decreasing unnecessary variations in care practices through the integration and promotion of evidence-informed best practice.
  • Monitor practice trends, identify opportunities that promote innovation and partnership for improvement, and support the consistent delivery of quality care.
  • Ensure that effective processes are in place to assess practice and workflow related to these initiatives within all interprofessional clinical teams.
  • Initiate and/or participate in planning processes, including supporting the determination of goals and objectives for nursing within Fraser Health.
  • Advise and make recommendations to the Professional Practice Directors regarding trends and opportunities that will help advance nursing practice or maintain sustainability of the nursing workforce.
  • Identify risks to practitioners and/or Fraser Health associated with related practices; plan corrective action as required and evaluate outcomes of the actions.
  • Lead the implementation of change initiatives related to nursing practice; assess impact and evaluate outcomes.
  • Evaluate auditing tools that provide measurements of patient outcomes, nursing practices, and related initiatives; develop or lead the development of revised or new audit tools, provide feedback to various sites and clinical teams on audit tool effectiveness and results, and develop and implement plans for improvements.
  • Provide reports, updates, and communications to senior leadership, executive sponsors, and Ministry of Health as required.
  • Provide operational management, including recruitment, retention, and performance management of staff and budget accountability for the portfolio.
  • Represent Professional Practice on regional, provincial, and external agencies, committees, and projects and foster effective linkages with other organizations.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in nursing plus a minimum of seven years of recent related experience in a complex healthcare environment, including program planning, education, facilitation, and project leadership.
  • Current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
