About the Role

The Triage and Transition team at CASA Child, Adolescent and Family Mental Health plays a vital role in ensuring a seamless experience for families beginning their journey with our organization. As a Registered Nurse on this team, you will work closely with families to eliminate gaps in services and provide a streamlined intake experience. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring the right patient accesses the right program, improving the patient's journey through CASA and the service provider's experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive bio-psycho-social mental health assessments for children and adolescents.
  • Provide nursing assessments and plans of care, including medication administration/monitoring, teaching, telephone follow-up and health promotion.
  • Liaise with other professionals to promote continuity of care.
  • Identify service delivery improvements and suggest enhancements, utilizing a lens of evidence-informed practice and with consideration to CASA's strategic and operational plan.
  • Maintain patient electronic health records in a complete and timely way.
  • Work collaboratively with the research department to assist with critical appraisal, evaluation and knowledge transfer.
  • Contribute to program and clinical team meetings.

Qualifications

  • Member in good standing with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta or the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta.
  • Minimum three years' recent experience in pediatrics and mental health is required.
  • Strong clinical assessment and evaluation skills.
  • Relevant and practical experience in a child and adolescent mental health treatment setting.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records or similar information systems.
  • Valid Class 5 operator's license and access to transportation.

Conditions of Employment

  • A satisfactory Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.
  • A satisfactory Child Intervention Check.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination or exemption on the basis of a protected legal ground.
  • Ability to pass and maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification.
