Project Controller for Buildings Practice

About the Role
Stantec is seeking a skilled Project Controller to join our Buildings practice in Yellowknife. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing support for the successful execution of construction projects through conformance to Stantec's ISO requirements, corporate policies, project management framework, and client requirements and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with business center leadership, finance, project managers and other project controllers to ensure successful project execution, overall financial health of business operations and process optimization.
- Support with project management best practices, set up, revenue/cost forecasting, change management, budgets and business plans.
- Monitor project financial progress, recommend areas of improvement, help to identify areas of risk.
- Assist with internal processes (project setups, forecasting, monitoring gross margins, invoicing/accounts receivable, sub-consultants, contract reviews, etc.).
- Work closely with the project team to maintain a current and accurate understanding of project status, issues and changes.
- Gather and analyze data to understand trends to assist leadership with business decisions.
- Review and analyze project gross margins and work with team and management to find costs savings and efficiencies.
- Assist team members to adhere to client standards and corporate policies and procedures, i.e., status reporting, quality reviews, audits etc.
- Support PM by coordinating project deliverables and schedules and subconsultant contract management.
- Support and assist with training of project controllers, and project managers.
- Collaborate with client project control staff.
- Foster a healthy and safe work environment and provide safety compliance.
- Create and maintain strong relationships both internally and externally including associated stakeholders.
- Support business development functions which may include proposal preparation.
What You Need to Succeed
- Prior work in a financial role/project controller/project manager/project assistant role is a plus.
- Financial Acumen: understanding of general finance and budgeting, including profit and loss.
- Strong analytical skills required to review all project controls information and ensure accuracy as well as identify issues, concerns, and potential mitigations.
- Strong listening, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective time management skills and ability to handle multiple priorities and assignments.
- Excellent written and verbal communications a must.
