We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Commercial Finance Director to join our team in Vancouver, BC.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing oversight and support to analysts working directly within the team, including reviewing underwriting, credit applications, and loan commitments. They will also be responsible for handling complex transactions from start to finish with minimal supervision.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and guidance to junior team members in commercial mortgage portfolio management.
  • Analyze financial information on commercial properties, including rent rolls, operating statements, and financial/net worth statements, to determine the appropriate loan size, terms, conditions, and pricing.
  • Review third-party reports, including appraisal, phase I/II environmental reports, and engineering reports, to ensure compliance with investor requirements, product lending guidelines, and loan terms and conditions.
  • Prepare loan summaries, including financial analysis and credit documents, to assist in the loan approval process.
  • Coordinate with funders, investors, legal professionals, and other third-party consultants to ensure loan conditions are met.
  • Develop and analyze construction/development pro-formas for various multi-unit housing type projects.
  • Monitor ongoing construction loan draws, cross-referencing budgets, and ensuring applicable undertakings are performed.
  • Assist in training and mentorship of junior team members.

Requirements:

  • Degree in finance or real estate-related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial real estate lending, preferably with CMHC and/or construction finance experience.
  • Strong knowledge of real estate lending regulations and principles of property valuation.
  • Advanced PC skills, with an emphasis on Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Results-oriented and highly motivated self-starter.
