Editorial Support Specialist

Job Summary:

The Assistant Editor will play a crucial role in supporting the colourist/editor team in the completion of episodic and feature projects from ingest to delivery. This position requires a strong understanding of technical applications and trends, with a focus on maintaining proficiency with evolving company workflows.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Colour Support: Assist colourists in performing efficiently and productively during sessions, including colour tracing, vfx inserts, lut application, and other tasks. Knowledge of various colour spaces (P3DCI, P3D65, XYZ) is essential.
  • Support Editors: Help finishing editors perform efficiently and productively during and before sessions, including locating and consolidating media, renders, and QC fixes.
  • Teamwork: Collaborate and communicate with colleagues to obtain job instructions and solutions to meet project deadlines. Document workflows and help train new hires.
  • Resource Support: Operate DaVinci Resolve or similar applications, Sony X300, Barco 4K/2K, and video routers.
  • Quality Assurance: Detail-oriented with application and equipment settings. Thoroughly check all work for errors before content is distributed downstream.
  • New Technology Support: Assist in supporting new processes and maintaining proficiency with evolving technical applications and trends with the company workflow.
  • Quality Control: Maintain outstanding levels of oversight of deliverables manufactured within the finishing process.
  • Customer Service: Drive client-supervised sessions, screenings, visual effects reviews, and colour-correction sessions/editorial reviews as directed by colourist/editor and/or production management.

About the Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate will have prior working experience in the media/post-production industry, as well as prior hands-on operator experience. They must have excellent communication and organizational skills, an exceptional eye for detail, strong problem-solving skills, good communication and interpersonal skills, and a great team player. Desired skills include working knowledge of Davinci Resolve, prior experience in finishing, professional-level English language skills, and a solid knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
